Shepherdess at the Well for the Nativity Scene

The Shepherdess at the Well is a characteristic wooden Bergland Nativity figure, depicted drawing water from the well. Her action brings movement to the figure and portrays a simple yet essential activity of everyday life.

The shepherdess becomes one of the central characters of the scene around the well, drawing the water needed by people and animals and helping create a natural pastoral setting rich in charming details.

Together with the Well, the Boy with Lamb at the Well and the Children at the Well, the Shepherdess forms the Bergland Well Scene group.

Each figure performs a different activity: the shepherdess draws water, the boy gives water to his little lamb, and the thirsty children drink from a bowl. Arranged around the well, the figures create a harmonious and engaging narrative scene.

The Shepherdess at the Well can also be displayed individually or combined with the other three elements to recreate the complete Bergland Well Scene group and enrich the Nativity landscape with a scene of everyday life.

All figures within the same series are proportioned to one another and can be combined with shepherds, sheep and other Bergland Nativity figures, inspired by the woodcarving tradition of Val Gardena - Dolomites.
