Reclining Shepherd for the Nativity Scene

The Reclining Shepherd is a characteristic wooden figure from the Bergland Nativity, depicted resting and designed to enrich the Nativity with a scene inspired by the everyday life of the shepherds.

Together with the Fire-Tending Shepherd and the Campfire, the Reclining Shepherd forms the Camp Scene group. The three elements can be arranged together to recreate an evocative nighttime scene with the shepherds gathered around the fire.

The reclining position gives the figure a natural and relaxed appearance and creates an interesting contrast with the Fire-Tending Shepherd tending the flames. Together, the figures portray a small moment from the shepherds' daily life and add character and storytelling to the Nativity scene.

The Camp Scene recalls the night in Bethlehem, when the shepherds were watching over their flocks before receiving the announcement of the birth of Jesus. This simple scene creates an evocative connection between pastoral life and the Nativity story.

The Reclining Shepherd can also be displayed individually or combined with sheep and other pastoral figures. To recreate the complete scene, it can be paired with the Fire-Tending Shepherd and Campfire.

All figures within the same Bergland Nativity series are proportioned to one another, allowing the scene to be expanded over time while maintaining harmonious proportions and the traditional woodcarving character of Val Gardena - Dolomites.
