The Well is a characteristic wooden element of the Bergland Nativity, designed to create a scene inspired by everyday life around one of the traditional gathering places of village life.
Together with the Boy with Lamb at the Well, the Children at the Well and the Shepherdess at the Well, it forms the Well Scene group. The four elements can be arranged together to create a lively setting rich in small details.
Different activities take place around the well: the boy gives water to his little lamb, the thirsty children drink from a bowl, and the shepherdess draws water from the well. The well therefore becomes the central element connecting all the figures.
Water, essential for both people and animals, gives this scene a natural character and helps recreate a simple moment of everyday life within the Nativity landscape.
The Well can be displayed individually or combined with the other three figures to create the complete Bergland Well Scene group. All items within the same series are proportioned to one another and can be combined with other shepherds, animals and Bergland Nativity figures.
A charming narrative element inspired by the traditional woodcarving heritage of Val Gardena - Dolomites.
